I’m late… I’m very late… last month were full of stuff, and I kind of forgot to make the analytics for the last 6 months… So I’ll try to make up for it by talking about the application analytics on android, on Windows Phone 7, on BlackBerry playbook, and on amazon app store.
Application markets :
On the Android Play market, Obenkyo reached 200 000 downloads, and 83 000 installed copies. I’m happy to say that the new users helped me reached a 4.8/5 star. Thank for the kind words, and ideas in the reviews, I do read them and take into account for the new versions. By the way, sorry for the multiple version I uploaded with bugs ^^. In the last 6 month only, 80 000 people downloaded the application on this market.
On the Amazon market – only for US users, mostly for Kindle fire, but you could get it for you android phone – 2000 people downloaded the application, and I got 6 review, each of 5 stars – thanks for the support . My issue is that next november, I’ll be faced with a dilemna: I’ll have to pay 99$ to stay on this market (the first year was free). So as Obenkyo is free – ads do not bring much money – It’ll come from my wallet. I’ll have to think about it, I really value the ability to provide the application when you don’t want/have the android market, so I don’t want to leave this marketplace.
On the Blackberry Playbook, there was overall 1500 downloads. I don’t know if this count updates, but it seems I only have 740 playbook users, so it’s fishy… anyway, I’ve got 8 reviews, most of them 5 stars.
On the Windows Phone market, I’ve got 400 downloads in about 2 month. It’s a quite fun plateform to developp to, but I’ll face the same issue of the amazon market: It’s going to cost me 99$ next year (the first year was free). The last version I uploaded seems to have quite a few crashes, but the reporting system of Windows phone is quite bad, and I have issues identifying the cause.
First, for Windows phone, the most popular device is the Lumia 800 (132 users), folowed by the lumia 710 (66 users), then the omnia 7 (30 users). Compare this to the 10K users of the GS2 …
Worldwide, the most popular device is the Galaxy S2 by samsung ( 8% of the downloads) folowed by the Galaxy S (4%) and Desire HD(3%). On the other devices, the playbook reached 740 users, and the amazon Kindle 1500.
In the last 6 month, the most popular device in the US was the kindle fire (3.7%), then the HTC EVO 4G (3.6%), then the Galaxy Nexus(3.4).
In europe, it’s the Galaxy S2 (7.6%) then Galaxy S (6.3), then the Galaxy Ace (6.3%).
In Asia: Galaxy S2(5.5%), Galaxy Y (5.1%), then Galaxy tab (4.3%)
The application usage is quite stable, reaching periodically 8K sessions daily, by about 3K users (reaching 4K when an update is released)
There is about 500 new users each days. The retention is quite low (20%, 10% after a month) but It’s quite hard to keep users for an education application.
the most active countries are United states (200K sessions in 6 month), france (86K), japan (75K) and germany (55K). Korea is still falling (15K sessions), if somebody is from korea and tell me if there is another application that is popular there, please tell me (and if you can help me translate the application, I would be really gratefull)
not much changes here most popular test are multiple choices, and drawing, for kanji and kana.
Sorry for the delay in updates, and thanks again for everyone that let the analytics active, so that I can understand the way you use the application
